Mobilizing the business community to support cycling in London, England
May 31, 2018 at 6 pm, the House of Sustainable Development, Vélo Québec and CRE-Montréal will be hosting the conference Mobilizing the business community to support cycling in London, England with Chris Kenyon.
In 2014, Chris Kenyon launched Cycling Works, an awareness-raising campaign aimed at garnering support from CEOs for the development of a protected bike path network in the heart of London. After receiving a favourable response from nearly 200 CEOs, the operation was deemed an overwhelming success and led to the creation of the popular cycle superhighways.
During his visit to Montreal for Go Bike Montréal Festival, Chris Kenyon will explain how this awareness-raising campaign was created, what will happen next and how it could be adapted to a city like Montréal.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion with Caroline Tessier, Executive Director of the Association des sociétés de développement commercial de Montréal, and Guillaume Lavoie, lecturer at ENAP, public policymaker and creator of the #veloconomie hashtag. Together, we will look at the possibility of taking this experience to another level in Montréal by, for example, integrating active transportation into the development of commercial arteries.

A cycling activist, Chris Kenyon is a member of the Board of Directors of the London Cycling Campaign, a 12,000-member non-profit organization defending cyclists’ rights, as well as Vice-President of Cloud at Canonical, the high-tech company behind Ubuntu data storage and processing software.
