Photo : Garth Lenz

On March 1rst at 12:15, Equiterre will be hosting the conference "The True Cost of Oil" at the Centre for Sustainable Developement, giving attendees a chance to meet the artist and photographer Garth Lenz.

Very few people have had the opportunity to witness the unimaginable scale of Alberta’s tar sands - the world’s third largest oil reserve and its biggest energy project - as up close as Garth Lenz, who got a bird's-eye view to create his photo exhibit The True Cost of Oil.

Equiterre gives you a unique chance to meet the artist and learn about his experience in the industrial universe of the tar sands. His very powerful images are sure to move you and raise your awareness of the ecological, social and cultural catastrophy happening right now in Canada.

Garth opposes the beauty of the threatened boreal forest with images of the industrial devastation caused by our thirst for fossil fuels.

The exhibit The True Cost of Oil will be on display at the Centre for Sustainable development until March 18th.

Duration: 1:30. Voluntary contributions. Sign up here: lamdd.org/rsvp
