Promoting Food Security in a Changing Arctic

On October 13th at 12:15, the Centre for Sustainable Development will be hosting a talk titled “Promoting Food Security in a Changing Arctic”, in collaboration with the Institut des sciences de l'environnement de l'UQAM (ISE) and the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal.

In the Canadian Arctic, numerous environmental, economic, cultural and social changes, as well as shifts in governance, have made food security an increasingly complex challenge for Inuit populations. Climate change, which strongly affects polar regions around the globe, only serves to exacerbate these problems. This talk aims to present an overview of food security issues for populations in Northern Canada following an ecosystemic approach.

Speakers:

Myriam Filion, researcher at the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur le bien-être, la santé, la société et l’environnement (CINBIOSE), a centre of interdisciplinary research on well-being, health, society and the environment; lecturer at ISE

Lauren Goodman, senior advisor for food security policies at Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami

Part of the talk will be given in French.

Duration: 1 hr 15 m. Voluntary contributions. Sign up here:  www.lamdd.org/rsvp
